Trumpet is my primary instrument and I love to record with it. My years spent trumpeting in a chamber ensemble (The Westerlies) have given me an extremely detail oriented approach, but I'm also a lover of textural experimentation and other studio fun. I can either record at home or travel to a studio.
Vieux Farka Toure and Julia Easterlin - Touristes
I played a bunch of trumpet on this 2015 record by Vieux and Julia. My most exposed moments are in 'In the Pines', 'Masters of War', and 'Apples and Champagne'. I also later played trumpet in the touring band for this album.
The Westerlies played on a few tracks from the new Fleet Foxes record Crack-up. Our most exposed moment is in the second half of the title track, starting at 3:44.
I recorded trumpet on a few tracks for Daniel Rossen's 2012 album Silent Hour/Golden Mile. My most exposed parts are on the song 'Saint Nothing'.
I played on this live acoustic version of 'Hey Mami' with Sylvan Esso in 2014. We later recorded it for an audio release.
I played some trumpet on this 2016 Half Waif album Probable Depths. I produced the album as well, so I was able to really freely experiment with the trumpet as a textural instrument. This is most apparent on 'Desperado' and 'Tactilian'.
I wrote and recorded a little cup mute trumpet arrangement for the end of this lovely Hank Midnight lullaby. Starts about 1:36.
I played trumpet on these three live videos done many years ago by production company Mason Jar Music.
